Last fall, I developed a new-found attachment to the seasons. I polled my slightly older friends to ask if my sensitivity to the falling leaves and the implacable passage of time is a function of age and they were like, “You are crazy.” I think I mostly just take the end of August pretty hard. Now, it’s March, and I’m already having dreams of summer-y things, like maracas and mimosas.

Today I watched the video of “Jibaro” by Electra as prep for my personal tropic zone.

My friend Andrew has watched older men take a shine to me over the course of our party reporting adventures. “What is it?” he wonders. “Does he have to have a Pulitzer?” No, he just has to not be dirt old.

Andrew writes about art openings from time to time. He told me he was going to the Martin Kippenberger opening at MoMA. I was busy interviewing Lev and Whitney about their first feature film, so I couldn’t make it. I e-mailed him just in case to see if there was any chance I could get in, in the event we wrapped up on the early side. I also added, “I fucked Martin Kippenberger.”

This happened:

“Ha ha, I’m kidding so much right now.”

The Kippenberger exhibition is called “The Problem Perspective.” This gave me an idea.

I tried to take my workout to the next level with some Soviet-era electro sport music endorsed by Lubov Bogdanova, the International Master of Sports circa the mid-80s. The True Panther blog says it better than I could: “Perhaps you will consider riding your skateboard to the further stretch of town, setting fire to a garbage can and rolling inside of it home all the while drinking the blood of an animal you’ve sacrificed. This music will make you fireproof. It will make you excercise with every beat of your heart.” Who is Bogdanova?

A report from the office of Inspector General Joseph Fisch to be released Tuesday depicts Dr. Novello as preoccupied with shopping and routinely abusive of her authority over employees, ordering them to buy her groceries, pick up her dry cleaning and even water her houseplants.

On one occasion, Dr. Novello purchased a heavy statue of Buddha during a shopping excursion in Troy, N.Y., then required a Health Department security guard to move it into her apartment, and then a few days later move it to another spot in her home because she didn’t like how it looked, according to the report, a copy of which was obtained by The New York Times. The guard told investigators that he often had to ask his teenage son to help him move her furniture around.
